Archery has been included in the Olympics since 1900 and was included four times up to 1920 and in those days had many different events.. It reappeared in 1972 in its modern target archery form.

Van Innis won a total of 10 medals in all (6 gold,4 silver). 4 golds were in individual events.

In the modern era two individual gold medals have only been won by Darrell Pace (USA) 1976,1984.

South Korea have won the most men’s team golds with 5 (1988,200,2004,2008,2016) and have won all seven women’s team gold medals since 1988.
