World Hall of Fame 1903

After a break while I was working on the Olympic blogs and records it’s time for another four nominations for my Sports Hall of Fame.

Albert Ayat (France – Fencing) : Won gold medals in the 1900 Paris Olympics in the Masters epee and amateur Masters epee events.

Gustav Hügel  (Austria) -Figure Skating . He was the 1897 & 1899-1900 World Champion and the 1901 European Champion.

Jack McAuliffe (Ireland) – Boxing. Undefeated through his career of 36 official bouts and many more unoffical ones. Lightweight world champion from1886 to 1893.

Joshua Slocum (Canada/USA) – Sailing. The first man to sail single-handed around the world, taking over three years from 1895 to 1898.
