British Hall of Fame 1904

The nominations for my British sporting Hall of Fame for 1904

Billy Bassett (Football) – The best right-winger of the 19th century. He played 16 times for England and won the FA Cup twice with West Bromwich Albion.

Blanche Bingley (later Hillyard) – Tennis: Played 27 times at Wimbledon and won the singles six times between 1886 and 1900. Also won three doubles titles.

Willie Park Senior (Golf) – Winner of the first Open golf Championship in 1860 and again in 1863,1866 and 1875. Also second in the Open four times and third twice.

Alfred Shaw (Cricket) – The best English bowler of his time. He averaged below 10 runs per wicket in 1875,1879 and1880 and has the best career average of any bowler taking over 1000 wickets. Bowled the first ball in Test cricket history.
