Olympic Records in Fencing

Fencing has been contested at the Olympics since 1896 and for women since 1924. Three weapons are medal events – epee, foil and sabre.

Most gold medals

7 Aladar Gerevich (Hungary) 1932 – 1960 at sabre (6 in team events)

6 Edoardo Mangiarotti (Italy) 1936 – 1960 at epee (5 in team)

6 Pal Kovacs (Hungary) 1936 – 1960 at sabre (5 team)

6 Rudolf Karpati (Hungary) 1936 – 1960 (4 team)

6 Nedo Nadi (Italy) 1912 – 1920 (5 came in 1920, including all three team events)

6 Valentina Vezzali (Italy) 1996 – 2012 at foil. This includes a  record three consecutive individual golds from 2000 – 2008.

Three individual golds have been won by Ramon Fonst (Cuba) in 1900-1904, Nadi and Vezzali.
